TECHNOLOGY
The 3D Progress Intra-Oral Scanner performs the digital impression of teeth and surrounding soft tissues, directly in the mouth of the patients. The technology beyond the product (and the patents) is Confocal Microscopy, that here is used in combination with Moire Effect detection. Due to the customized Smart Pixel sensor used in the device, the IntraOral scanner is able to acquire 3D data of a volume of about 10 x 10 x 18mm (that are approximately the dimensions of a tooth) in less than a 1/10th of a second.
The scanning speed range is from 10 to 20 individual 3D scan per second. This very fast acquisition rate allows a real time 3D acquisition, with a scanning feeling much similar to a video camera than to a traditional dental scanner. |
